RVA Fields Parking Lot
The emerald ash borer infected the parking lot trees and trees along the Flight Path necessitating their removal. Before replanting the trees, the Township retained a traffic engineer to review the existing layout to improve safety, traffic flow and maximize the number of parking spaces. There are currently 283 spaces and the redesign will increase that number by 42 spaces.
Work began on June 20th and will continue over the next few weeks - the parking lot will be subject to intermittent closures during construction.
We anticipate paving the second week of August. Once paved, the parking lot will be closed for 2 weeks. Park patrons will be directed to the auxiliary parking area behind the firehouse on Rockaway Valley Road.
All work should be completed before the start of fall soccer.

Boonton Township Police Summer Safety Newsletter
With the summer season underway, the Boonton Township Police Department would like to offer some general tips and precautions to help keep our residents and our community safe. For any of our residents whom will be vacationing this summer season, we strongly urge you to notify the police department of your travel plans. Residents can stop by the lobby of police headquarters or visit our website at www.btpolice.org to obtain a copy of our “closed house” form. This form notifies the police department when your house may be temporarily vacant for any period of time. Officers will then conduct periodic property checks of your home to ensure that your residence is safe and secure. Our closed house check program is just one of the many community service programs that our police department is proud to offer to our residents.
As always, we also ask you to remain vigilant and exercise caution when parking your vehicles at public parks and recreation areas. As the weather gets nicer, these areas in town typically see an increase in usage and activity from our residents; unfortunately, criminals are aware of this fact as well. Stolen and burglarized vehicles in public recreation settings have been an unfortunate increasing trend in Morris county. It is vitally important to take the necessary and basic steps to protect your valuables at all times. Burglars are aware of the fact that it may be convenient to leave your wallet, purse, or other belongings in your vehicle while you are out enjoying any number of local parks, walking trails, or recreational areas. If you are unable to bring your personal items with you for any reason, we encourage you to store them in your glove compartment or locked trunk, as valuables laying in plain view are likely to attract a potential burglar.
With those tips in mind, we hope that the remainder of the summer is safe, healthy and enjoyable for all of our residents here in Boonton Township. If we can ever be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us, or stop by the department and see us. You can also visit www.btpolice.org/ContactUs to leave us a non-emergent message about any questions or issues you may have. Our agency would be happy to provide you with a number of booklets and informational pamphlets which further discuss ways to keep you and your family safe. Our officers are always happy to discuss any questions or concerns you may have about our community. The Boonton Township Police Department is proud to serve the residents of this great community, and we are looking forward to a safe and successful remainder of 2023.
Thank you to our good friends at "Fallsview Rehabilitation and Nursing" for including us in their health fair yesterday.
It was a fantastic turnout and a great community event!
