last day to pay 3rd quarter taxes without penalty
TAX BILLS HAVE BEEN MAILED ON AUGUST 1ST
3RD QUARTER TAXES WILL BE DUE NO LATER THAN AUGUST 26TH
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT MESSAGES:
For ONLY the 2022 Third Quarter Property Taxes, the payment date of August 10, 2022, has been extended to August 26, 2022 pursuant to State Statute for the residents of Boonton Township.
If the Tax Collector does not receive payment as of AUGUST 26, 2022 for the 2022 Third Quarter Property Taxes, interest will be charged from AUGUST 1, 2022.
Please note that postmarks are not accepted.
When making payments for taxes and/or water sewer by E-CHECK, please be certain to include your Block and Lot # on the e-check so that the payment is posted to the correct property.
For property owners who are senior citizens, veterans, or disabled (as well as surviving spouses), you might qualify for deductions on your property tax bill.

PAYMENT DROP BOX
For your convenience, we now have a secure payment drop-box located at the Main Entrance at the Municipal Building (by the Police Dept). You can drop off checks for taxes, water & sewer charges, dog licenses, recreation fees and court fines here.
Any payments dropped in the mailbox after 4:00 PM on the day when taxes or water & sewer charges are due will be considered delinquent. Please do not drop off cash in the box.
2022 ROAD RESURFACING
Re-paving on North Main, Crestfield Road and Wiltshire Drive has been completed.
Southview Drive, Audubon Trail, Fernhollow Road, Meadowbrook Road (upper section) and Lone Oak Lane
should be completed by August 29, 2022, weather permitting.
During the day of paving, access on the road will be restricted; please plan your day accordingly.
Paving crews will begin set-up at 7 AM and will end by 5 PM. Please limit any work or deliveries during this time frame.
The Township ordinance 127-3 prohibits any pavement disturbance for three years from the date of the re-surfacing; therefore, any utility connection requiring a pavement disturbance cannot occur
before December 31, 2025.
Every effort will be made to minimize inconvenience to you during this project. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Public Health Nurse Office Hours
Our Public Health Nurse office hours are generally on Thursday mornings from 9AM to 10AM. If you would like to confer with our nurse, Cindie Bella, RN, BSN, REHS, MAS,

The Public Health Nurse serves as a vital resource to our community for health-related referrals such as COVID tests and vaccines or weigh loss management.
Blood pressure screenings are done during office hours - no appointment is necessary.
Good idea to call beforehand to verify hours for the week. Stop by during office hours for more information.

The cumulative number of cases in Boonton Township as of the start of community transmission in Morris County of COVID-19 in early March 2020 now stands at 1107 as of August 25, 2022.

Rockaway Valley Garden Club
The Rockaway Valley Garden Club generally meets the 2nd Tuesday of each Month.
Meetings begin at 10: 00 am and are held at the Boonton Township Municipal Building, 155 Powerville Rd.

The Joy of Backyard Bird Feeding
On Tuesday, September 13 at 11:00 am, the Rockaway Valley Garden Club will hold a free program about backyard bird feeding which will be held at the Boonton Township Municipal Building.
Jim Walker, owner of Wild Birds Unlimited Nature Store, will present the program. We will learn about the variety of year-round feeder birds and how to attract familiar and not too familiar birds to our backyards.
Jim will discuss the best feeders and foods the birds are attracted to.
The club members will also learn how to stop those unwanted visitors from eating all the food and damaging our feeders.

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service has implemented Stage 2 fire restrictions in Northern New Jersey.
Campfire and agricultural burning restrictions are in effect for Bergen County, Essex County, Hudson County, Morris County, Passaic County, Somerset County, Sussex County, Warren County, Hopewell Township in Mercer County, Union County, Hunterdon County, Middlesex County (north of Raritan River), according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.
No ground wood fires will be permitted.
Elevated prepared fireplaces, elevated charcoal grills or stoves using electricity, or a liquid or gas fuel are acceptable. An elevated prepared fireplace must be constructed of steel, stone, brick, or concrete with its fire box elevated at least one foot above the ground surface and surrounded by at least a ten feet radius clearance to mineral soil.

Agricultural burning has been suspended. Agricultural open burn permit holders should monitor the NJ Forest Fire Service website for the latest updates on open burning conditions
At this time there are no campfire or agricultural burning restrictions south of the Raritan River, forest fire service said.

Once redirected, ensure you are on the page for Boonton Township New Jersey and follow the step by step instructions on the web page to create an account and receive emergency alerts for Boonton Township.
"Alert Boonton Township" also automatically signs you up for Smart911 which provides you and your family with a potentially life-saving resource. Smart911 is a free emergency 911 component which helps our emergency dispatchers better assist you during an emergency. This service also allows residents to create a safety profile which can include any information they would like to share with first responders during an emergency.
