Reminder

JCP&L power line tree trimming project

NG Gilbert is working throughout Township rights-of-way to clear power lines of branches and offending trees.

Property owners have signed statements with NG Gilbert accepting responsibility for removal of cut trees left in the right-of-way and their adjoining properties.

The Township will be sending notices to property owners reminding of the need to remove the fallen trees from the right-of-way and adjoining properties as soon as possible.

Please be sure to remove all cut trees from the front of your property - leaving a sign stating "Free Firewood" will certainly aid in the quick removal of the cut wood.

A Message From the Boonton Township Police Department

BTPD Wishes Our Residents a Happy and Safe Memorial Day Weekend

As Memorial Day Weekend kicks off and the official start of summer approaches, the Boonton Township Police Department wishes our residents a safe, happy, and healthy Memorial Day weekend. Whether you are traveling, gathering with friends or family, or spending the weekend at home, we want to remind our residents to stay safe and be prepared for increased traffic conditions on our roadways and around our community as others celebrate the holiday weekend. Rest assured that our officers will be working around the clock this weekend, as always, to help keep Boonton Township safe and secure. Enjoy and stay safe!

BTPD Announces "Share the Road" Campaign as Part of National Motorcycle and Bicycle Safety Month

As the weather continues to improve, we typically see a rise in motorcycle and bicycle activity on our roadways each spring. For this reason, May is recognized as "National Motorcycle and Bicycle Safety Month." During the month of May, the Boonton Township Police Department wants to remind our motorists to please share the road with motorcyclists and bicyclists. Motorcycle and bicycle fatalities have been dropping both nationally and locally in recent years. However, motorcyclists are still significantly overrepresented in traffic crashes and fatalities each year. The latest statistics also show that 75% of bicyclists who were involved in fatal accidents were not wearing helmets. As a result of these trends, the Boonton Township Police Department urges riders to always wear helmets, and we ask both our bicyclists and motorcyclists to take extra care during the summer months. We also want to spread the word to our drivers behind the wheel to learn more about interacting with motorcyclists and bicyclists, and to always remember to share the road. Raising awareness of bicycle presence on our roadways and acknowledging motorcyclist maneuvers can save lives, prevent injuries, and reduce crashes. Please join us for the remainder of this month and every month and pledge to make our roadways here in Boonton Township as safe as possible!
