Weekly Coronavirus Update

Since June 25, 2020 the number of confirmed Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the Township remain at 109 cases. We are working closely with our partners at the Morris County Health Management and Office of Emergency Management. Park Update

ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE PROHIBITED IN ALL TOWNSHIP PARKS

Dogs will be prohibited at RVA Fields from July 19th to July 26th as there will be a lacrosse event during that time. Dogs will be permitted again on July 27th.

• RVA Fields are open. Residents must observe social distancing guidelines and gathering restrictions. Dogs must be leashed (leashes not exceeding 6') and must be under the owner's control at all times; remain on the gravel pathway or parking lot; cannot run off-leash or be on the fields; owners must pick-up after their dogs. Police continue patrols and will issue summonses to anyone allowing their dog to off-leash or failing to pick-up after their dog. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH DOG REGULATIONS MAY RESULT IN DOG PRIVILEGE BEING SUSPENDED.
• Leonard Park is open. Residents must observe social distancing guidelines and gathering restrictions. Tennis lessons are prohibited at the tennis courts. Dogs are strictly prohibited.
• Griffith Park is temporarily closed for upgrades and maintenance.

• While using our parks, grounds and trails, residents are asked to:

-Refrain from using parks or trails if you are exhibiting virus symptoms.

-Follow CDC’s guidance on personal hygiene prior to and during use of parks or trails.

-Observe CDC’s minimum recommended social distancing of 6 feet from other individuals at all times. If this is not possible, users should find an alternate location or depart that space.

-Understand that public restrooms are not available but have portable restrooms (please bring personal sanitary supplies for yourself).

ROCKAWAY VALLEY ROAD RE-SURFACING PROJECT

Mother Nature hasn't cooperated with the Rockaway Valley Road Re-surfacing Project which was scheduled to begin milling from Four Corners to Valley Road today.

The work is now scheduled for Monday, July 13; however, the forecast is again calling for thunderstorms which may result in an additional delay.

The project plans to have a full road closure (local traffic only - no thru traffic) for milling then single lane traffic for paving over two days.

Hopefully the project will be completed by July 17th.

REMINDER

RECYCLING CENTER HOURS

The Recycling Center is open two Saturdays a month.

Recently, persons have been dumping household trash, building materials and furniture in the metal container off-hours which requires staff to remove these items from the dumpster.

Please use the Center during its scheduled hours.

The Police Department has increased the security cameras in the DPW lot and will be issuing summonses to off-hours dumping offenders.
