Public Gardens: Yesterday, Today, & Tomorrow
On Tuesday, March 12 at 11:00am, the Rockaway Valley Garden Club will host a free program focused on the evolution of Public Gardens. From the focus of medicinal plants of European botanical gardens over 400 years ago, to an emphasis on lavish displays of newly discovered plants from around the world during the 19th and 20th centuries, current Public Gardens reflect unique community issues such as environmental concerns and food insecurity. Bruce Crawford, Director of Rutgers Gardens will share how Rutgers Gardens and other Public Gardens are addressing public horticulture for the future.

GREEN TEAM
As the winds of March blow in, the Green Team wants to remind residents to take care when placing trash and recyclables at the curb for collection. The windy weather and animals can easily create a litter nightmare if your receptacles are not properly covered. If you do not have a proper lid for your receptacle consider using a weighted piece of cardboard or something similar. Also, whenever possible, place your recyclables and trash out for pick up early on the morning of your collection day rather than the night before. And, if you do see litter on your street, please pick it up and properly dispose of it. Your help in keeping the Township looking good is appreciated!
