The emerald ash borer infected the parking lot trees and trees along the Flight Path necessitating their removal. Before replanting the trees, the Township retained a traffic engineer to review the existing layout to improve safety, traffic flow and maximize the number of parking spaces. There are currently 283 spaces and the redesign will increase that number by 42 spaces.
Work began on June 20th and will continue over the next few weeks - the parking lot will be subject to intermittent closures during construction.
Once paved, the parking lot will be closed for 1-2 weeks. Park patrons will be directed to the auxiliary parking area behind the firehouse on Rockaway Valley Road.
All work should be completed before the start of fall soccer.
